In this inspirational talk, journalist, author, and travel expert Ash Bhardwaj charts his path from social housing (and barely leaving England) to travelling the world for his job.
Ash grew up in Windsor, attending – and later teaching at – The Windsor Boys’ School. He has since spent two decades exploring the world, writing and presenting from over 50 countries for the likes of the BBC, Times, Telegraph, Sky, Channel 5 and Discovery. Along the way, he’s learned about seizing opportunities and achieving ambitions, whilst working out how to break into competitive industries.
He’ll share tales from his adventures, including a 1000km hike through Uganda and Sudan, an 8500km journey along Russia’s NATO border, and serving with the British Army in Estonia. But it all started on a rugby tour to New Zealand with The Windsor Boys’ School.
This is Ash’s only free talk this year, and he’s doing it to make it accessible to students who are wondering what to study or thinking about what to do next. He wants to share what he wishes he’d known back then.
But it’s also for anyone who wants to travel better. In his award-winning book Why We Travel, Ash explored how we can make travel more fulfilling, and the answers might surprise you.
