Poppy Guardsman

“When everyone was saying no, and I had nowhere to turn, the Legion said yes”

We are pleased to be official supporters of this years’ Berkshire Poppy Appeal. As well as making a significant donation, we want to help spread the word about the work that the Royal British Legion do in our community.

The Legion provides lifelong information, advice and guidance to serving and veteran members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force and their families.

Colin’s story (we have changed his name) is typical. Having served for 10 years in the Household Cavalry, he struggled to adapt to civilian life. He was homeless several times, without a job and on one occasion lived tent in a local park for nearly eight weeks. With the Legions practical help, he is now back on his feet and starting to rebuild his life.

The Royal British Legion is asking the nation to #RethinkRemembrance by recognising the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces community, past and present.

By wearing a poppy, you aren’t just remembering the fallen: you’re supporting a new generation of veterans and Service personnel that need our support.

So please look out for our special Poppy Appeal topper on GUARDSMAN Best Bitter and for further posts in the run up to Remembrance Sunday on the 12th November.
